That's one of the many reasons Pentax is the best system when it comes to SLRs and DSLRs.

My particular fave is the 50mm f1.2 which has the absolute best bokeh of any lens I ever owned.
The Nikon menu has a section for "nonCPU lens data" where the metering can be configured for at least 6 different lenses. No adapters required. I do shoot a lot of macro with them, so extension tubes come in handy.

First is there still film available and processing it? Can the lenes I have AF ZOOM-NIKKOR 35-105/F3.5-4.5 and AI AF-NIKKOR 50/FI.85N plus lens on camera body be adapted to digital camera? Lastly what I do with the NIKON SPEEDLIGHT UNIT SB-23, or can that be adapted too? I purchased it on 28/7/1990 yes, it’s old but it’s like new.

This discussion is interesting.

I have bought a vintage cine lens. The mount is a screw type of 16 mm in diameter. 1.5 INCH f1.9 SUPER COMAT TAYLOR AND HOBSON 16mm Movie lens. So far I did not find any adapter to fit on to my Canon mirrorless camera. Some pictures are attached here.

I guess, I require a a step up ring of 16 to 25 mm to adapt this lens. I will then have to attach C-EOS M adapter on top of that special ring.

Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
From UK

Hi Adam, Thanks for the response. Yeah the XD is a great camera, lots of beautiful shots taken with it. I prefer a larger camera as I have large hands. Would I be correct in assuming that a mirrorless would not have a standard viewfinder, just the screen? I sometimes have trouble seeing the screen on my phone in bright sunlight. I’m thinking I need to educate myself a little more on the tech aspects so I can figure out what I don’t know and what questions to ask. I’m in Maryville, real close to the mountains. One of the reasons my wife and I picked Tn. for retirement.

And incidentally I’m based in west TN but I’m constantly over in the Smokies. Which area are you located if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi George, those XD’s are absolute tanks so I’m not surprised it’s still working but I understand the appeal of a digital companion. In short, virtually any DSLR could be used with the SR-mount (I think that’s the mount for your XD) with the correct adapter. After a quick search you’ll be looking for an MD to ?? mount adapter depending on which camera you choose. I urge you to also consider a mirrorless camera as opposed to the DSLR just for the sake of size. Unless you are looking for a full-frame sensor Sony’s A6000 line would be a great option to investigate. I’d be happy to help with anything further if you have questions.

Since my retirement and move to picturesque east Tennessee I would like to un-retire my photography hobby. My old XD-11 still works fine but I’d like to go digital without a large financial outlay. Any recommendations from the tech savvy about a decent D-SLR body that, with the appropriate adapter, would let me use my old friends again. I’m not concerned with any auto-exposure issues as my first camera, the SRT-202 was a manual match needle system. Wish I still had that one. Thanks, George

I acquired a fairly comprehensive collection of screw mount Super Takumar lenses to use with my Canon DSLRS, at the time consisting of an APS-C body and a full frame 5D (the original one). While no problems were encountered using them on the APS-C body, when any focal length from 35mm on down to 24mm was focused at infinity, the rear lens element would be hit by the mirror. The first time that happened I thought I had wrecked the 5D, and immediately ceased using any of the wide angles.

Desperate to find how to search for the compatible adapter for my older manual zoom. Currently I shoot with a Nikon D3400 & I want to use my older manual zoom lens Quantaray for Nikon AF 100-30mm 1:4.5-6.7 LDO. The kicker is that it fits my current D3400 camera and will take a photo only to turn out black on the display screen on the back, like it can’t communicate back to the camera I also shoot in full manual mode. So I’m assuming I need some sort of adapter for the two to communicate. I just have no idea what I’m to search for given the adapters are to be specific to the camera?? Anyone know how to go about doing this?
