That´s not true. Genevieve is right. Is just an illusion product of our brain, and thst´s widely documented. Has NO relation to the atmosphere

This super moon came the same night as a blood moon.

I hope to get to shoot the moon one day, but now my equipment wouldn’t let me to, so the only thing that I can do is to make photo calendars with NASA moon pictures. It comes out pretty creative, especially if you add lunar phases to make your calendar look somewhat like these- https://photo-calendar-software.com/lunar-calendars.php https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/fb9521edef5d870da4082dee2d0b05b9a1b9debc4b0fd91fe3537b4244aeff60.png

If you shoot near any city, you don’t want to photograph the moon low in the sky, because of the pollution in the atmosphere. In this case its better to wait till its higher in the sky and for the sharpest results, if possible shoot in early evening when its still daylight. Also Ive never turned off Image Stabilization on my Sigma 150-600mm… It doesn’t blur the image.. This image was shot with a Sony A7r and Sigma 150-600mm at 600mm in crop mode making it 980mm at iso 350 f/8 400th sec

My former telco (I’ve changed, since!) was driving me nuts 12 months back, and I had no spare time to respond, then.

You mention tripods and remotes and live view, to minimise any camera movement.

I also use the electronic shutter on my cams, for moon shots, for the same reason.

For starter’s I should say I’m a novice at DSLR’s. I just got my camera before Christmas and since, I’ve read countless articles on how to get a decent shot of the moon. I’ve tried several times and the only times I’ve been successful was if it was still somewhat daylight. I really, really wanted to be able to shoot the supermoon. I tried several settings, in different combinations for an hour. In desperation, I googled how to shoot it again and came across your article. By this time, the moon was too high in the sky to shoot it against anything but I literally set my camera line by line from your article. I also tethered it wireless to my tablet so I didn’t have to touch the camera at all (I don’t as yet have a remote trigger). I think this is part of the reason I was finally successful. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! This may not be the most exciting picture visually, but I finally have a picture of the moon that shows the details of the moon. I literally cannot thank you enough. I can’t wait till tonight comes to try better shots!!
