The detailed breakdown of compositional techniques, like the rule of thirds and leading lines, was incredibly insightful.
The emphasis on natural and artificial lighting highlights how crucial it is to master exposure settings for perfect shots.
I also appreciate the tips on using aperture to control depth of field, which can significantly enhance portrait and landscape photography . This post is a goldmine for anyone looking to improve their photography skills, from beginners to seasoned pros. Great job in making complex concepts so accessible!

What happens as society evolves more into the digital age and as printed media of all sorts disappear? Will the perceptions change? Will digital visualization be much better and more consistent than now? Will digital devices be able to emulate print?

You did extremely well with your Eastern Sierra b&w: scrolling down to it, my first impression was “Why is there an Ansel Adams photo stuck in here?” https://media2.giphy.com/media/Zcm5DaspYzhTxstkF4/giphy.gif

You are absolutely right. The word previsualize seems to be what we hear but it’s incorrect as you point out. The idea as you state is to “see” the picture in your head before you see it in the viewfinder.

Nice of you to say Robert, thank you. Especially now that I’m somewhere around 50 articles between those I wrote for Improve Photography and now here with Digital Photography School.

It brings the balance of both the art and the mechanics of photography, together, in a well executed essay. The ONLY thing I could add is just the three words I tell every photographer, including myself: Practice, practice, practice.

It’s impossible to practice previsualization. Ansel always said to practice visualization, which is the ability to see in your mind the image before you trip the shutter. I don’t know how to see something before I think of it.
